Bulawayo  – Another prisoner has fallen at Matebeleland’s Khami Prison after being denied medication.
Mr Mxoli Dlamini, 52, died last Thursday at the facility which has seen record numbers dying in cells.
Last year a total of 108 prisoners were released on medical grounds.
Dlamini had been imprisoned for a six year jail term for beating a stock thief to death, a sentence he served two years until the fateful day last week.
Dlamini’s 32 year old brother, Mangangandile told ZimEye.com, “My brother and four others were arrested in 2013.”
He said the man was denied medication leading to his eventual death Thursday.
“He kept complaining of chest pains and easily got tired and failed to complete a sentence as you tried to enquire on his health.
“Before his death he had lost his left eye .
“He was feeling well and used to tell me but he was denied to go to check ups,” he said.
Prison bosses were not available for comment.
The family was given funeral assistance by the UK based philanthropist Barbara Nyagomo.
They thanked Miss Nyagomo saying,
“Mhuri yekwaDlamini yatenda Madam President nechipo chehuku, zvichitevera rubatsiro rwavakapa kumhuri iyi panguva yenhamo. Tinotenda, pachivanhu chedu chipo chikuru. Mwari arambe anavo.
