tough talk…Wilbert Mukori

Tendai Biti is “actively” seeking a coalition between his MDC -Renewal with Mai Mujuru’s People First. He is so convinced this is the right move he has dismissed doing otherwise as “idiocy”.
Biti and Mujuru can talk until the cows come home the political reality is that both of them are incompetent, corrupt and sell-outs; God knows they have proven this beyond all doubt already. Whilst education may cure one of incompetence, there is no known cure for being corrupt and a sell-out other than hang oneself as Judas Iscariot did.
They two should have apologized for betraying the people whilst they were in power and then resign from all public life!
They have both their political virtue on Zimbabwe’s infamous political gravy train. They have since lost their seats; Biti was in the GNU and lost his seat following the rigged 2013 elections and Mai Mujuru was a senior member in Zanu PF for 34 years only to be kicked out of the party last December. They are both itching to get back on that gravy train so much so they will do or say anything.
As far as the people of Zimbabwe are concerned the single most important task this nation must accomplish is to get all, not just some water down few but ALL, the democratic reforms agreed in the 2008 Global Political Agreement, GPA, which then gave rise to the formation of the GNU, implemented.
The reforms were designed to dismantle the Zanu PF dictatorship which has allowed the party to abuse state institutions like the public media, the Police, Security sectors, ZEC, etc. and rig elections. MDC failing to get even one reform implemented during the five years of the GNU and hence Zanu PF was able to blatantly rig the July 2013 elections and is set to do so again in future elections.
Although Mai Mujuru has been kicked out of the Mugabe faction of Zanu PF that is now in power, as a former Zanu PF member herself she still knows how the Zanu PF dictatorship works. If she was to contest the next elections and win then she will inherit the essential components of the Zanu PF dictatorship lock, stock and barrel!
The day Mai Mujuru and her former Zanu PF are returned back to power they would want to quickly consolidate their power base by appointing people loyal to the her in the state institutions and assure them all that it is business as usual. Her political power base is founded on the Zanu PF dictatorship and she would certainly not want that disrupted by someone implementing democratic reforms!
As for Tendai Biti and his MDC friends they have never believed they could govern Zimbabwe own their own and hence the reason the readily accepted GNU in 2008 and were not keen to implement the democratic reforms during the GNU years. MDC were quite content to have the Zanu PF dictatorship survive after the GNU provided it changed enough to allow MDC seats on the gravy train.
MDC leaders expected Zanu PF to blatantly rig the July 2013 elections but not to the extent of a landslide victory for Zanu PF!
Tendai Biti is hoping the coalition with Mai Mujuru will result in the political system MDC had hope would emerge after the 2013 elections; a Zanu PF dominated government but with a number of reserved seats for him and his MDC friends.
Many Zimbabweans have been fearful Mai Mujuru and her supporters’ strong Zanu PF corrupt and tyrannical past; a leopard does not change its spots, ever! MDC-Renewal has been quick sooth these public fears by assuring the public MDC-Renewal will “wash off the gamatox” as soon as the coalition is back in power.
The gamatox reference comes the time Mugabe was angry with Information Minister Jonathan Moyo he called him a “weevil” that was destroying Zanu PF from within. Didymus Mutasa, Mujuru loyalist, saw Moyo and his faction in Zanu PF as the greatest threat to the Mujuru faction’s bid to position her to take over power from Mugabe. So Mutasa seized the chance to get rid of the competition and offered to bring the gamatox insecticide use to kill weevil.
Within six months it was Minister Moyo and his faction that successfully ousted the Mujuru faction out of the party. So it Mutasa himself who ended up covered to his eyes in the gamatox!
So for the sake of winning the next elections MDC –Renewal are willing to put aside democratic reforms and work to Zanu PF modus operandi thus accepted to be contaminated with the gamatox, as it were. The day after the coalition has won the elections MDC –Renewal will want the democratic reforms implemented or wash themselves free of the gamatox.
After what all what Mai Mujuru and her Zanu PF has already gone through being kicked out of the party and what they still have to go through to win back power, this lot will have no patience with some political upstart threatening their recovered political power by implementing some democratic reforms. Frankly Tendai Biti and his lot will be chaff to bit that they are back on the gravy train again they will not want to rock the boat by pushing reforms.
The bottom line is the Mujuru’s People First and Tendai Biti’s MDC-Renewal marriage of convenience will never ever implement all the democratic reforms; not before the next elections or after those elections. This proposed coalition is a political distraction, offering the false hope of a way out when it is in fact a cul-de-sac, easy to get in but near impossible to get out.
The only way out of this political and economic mess we find ourselves in is by getting all the democratic reforms agreed in the 2008 GPA implemented. Mujuru and Biti are not offering to implement any reforms so forget them.
Mugabe’s ZimAsset plan is dead in the water; he failed to get any donors to bankroll the plan. The regime has no plan B to end the worsening economic meltdown. The regime is under increasing pressure to accept meaningful economic and political reforms design to end the corruption, lawlessness, etc. which destroyed local companies and stopped new investment. We must insist on the implementation of all the democratic reforms.
Implement all the reforms and the country the polluted political air will be cleared allowing competent politicians and political parties will emerge and flourish.
First things first, get the democratic reforms implemented and that will finally secured the right of every Zimbabwean to free, fair and credible elections plus the host of all the other basic freedoms and rights for all time. Good and competent government and economic prosperity will follow guaranteed!

  1. Mai Mujuru (and her husband) exploited their position and status to amass wealth. This is one of those quintessential Zimbabwean traits. The only difference is in scale of opportunity. Biti sounds like he became very arrogant when he tasted power in the GNU. Arrogance – yet another Zimbabwean trait; ask any of our neighbouring countries. We like to look down on other nations, even as we run to them to survive. I could go on to selfishness and cowardice. This is not to say we do not have our redeeming characteristics, But just to remind each other that our leaders did not come from distant planets; they are all a reflection of different parts of us as a nation.
As for Mujuru, Biti and any other aspiring political leaders, all one wants to know at this stage is if they can ‘catch mice’. If so, they all need to come together, if they are to have any hope of forcing electoral reforms, or of ensuring implementation thereafter. But that requires putting the common interest before individual concerns, egos and ambitions, something we Zimbabweans are not famous for, be it as political leaders, internet commentators, white collar workers or street vendors.

  2. The evidence of Biti and Mujuru being corrupt and incompetent is there for all to see, the two have since publicly apologized for their serious shortcomings and yet there are still some people who refuse to open their eyes and see the two for whom they are. No wonder the nation is in a mess!

  3. The inability to understand what is going on by some of our people is shocking. They continue to live in their own bubble completely divorced from the real world!

  4. If you are not angry at the tragic situation in our country; angry at President Mugabe and his cronies for betraying the principles many of us fought for during the war of independence; angry at MDC leaders for selling-out and costed the nation the golden chance to end the Zanu PF dictatorship by implementing the reforms; angry at the stupidity of the electorate who continue to vote for the same corrupt and incompetent leaders; etc. If you are not angry at all this then you clearly do not understand what is going on!

  5. If all democratic reforms had been implemented and elections were going
to be free and fair, then yes Joice Mujuru would be history. None of the reforms were implemented thanks to MDC leaders selling out during the GNU and so the next elections will be subject to the some blatant and overt vote rigging tactics as in the past.
There is a distinct possibility indeed even certainty that Joice Mujuru will
have moles still in Zanu, she only needs one mole and President Mugabe and Zanu PF will be undone. By the time the next elections are held a lot more people will be living in abject poverty and the reality that the only way this nightmare situation is for President Mugabe to go. There will therefore be even more people willing to tell Zanu PF’s dirty tricks than ever before.
Ignoring Mujuru will be a big mistake.

  6. Wilbert don’t lose sleep over Joyce she will never ever be close to power again. Don’t waste your time writing about her. You give her more credit than she deserves. The real power is with Zanu and Mdc T these are other two rag tag parties have zero influence on the body politic of Zim. Mujuru is cursed and will never ever amount to anything

  7. Telling you Biti and Mujuru are corrupt and incompetent sell-out is telling you the truth just because you do not want to hear the truth because it also reflects badly on you – all these years you have been singing the praises of corrupt and incompetent idiots. Well that is you problem my friend.
Tell the nation they must never ever elect corrupt and incompetent village idiots is exactly what the people of Zimbabwe need to hear right now. If they heed my advice and elect competent leaders then I will be pleased, job well done. If they decide to elected the same village idiots who sold them last time and the whole nation sink even deeper into economic and political despair then I can say I did my best to warn the nation.
Was it not Jesus himself who said “I send you out as sheep amongst wolves. You must be as shrewd as snakes and as gentle as doves.”
Electing the same corrupt, incompetent and sell-out individuals again and again shows that you are just a lazy sloth who will not use the God given human intellect because you brain has atrophied through generation of mind numbing slumber!
You asking me to teach you a lesson, I will; you are not a sloth but a human and so stop burying your head in village idiots like Ysvangirai’s backsides and think for yourself for once!

  8. In a country is which every city, town and growth point has had endless trouble with getting something as basic as clean water in this day and age; I would say there is definitely something wrong. You may think you are doing fine but let me tell you you are mentally dead! Of course many people are dying already because in a country that cannot have clean running water you can be certain a hell lot of other things like health services have too collapsed.
You will never notice any of these problems, you will continue in your merry way blissfully oblivious of the rot and decay all round you. It is a “blessing” to be stupid; you are not aware of anything round you! KKKKKKKKKKKK that is a fool laughing as he continues to sink into the abyss!

  9. @ Sobhuza
Let me answer that with a question; whom amongst all the individuals you have named above is not an a***hole? So if they are all a***holes; it is not just me saying they are, they have proven this themselves over the years; you think I should praise at least one of them so the “populace look up to (him/her) with hope”!
I say it is that attitude of allowing ourselves to pin our holes and dreams on an a****hole like Mugabe or Tsvangirai that has landed us in this mess. And, which is worse, we will never get out of this mess as long as we continue to place our hopes on corrupt and incompetent a***holes like Mujuru and Biti who have proven already that they are a***holes.
A healthy and functioning democracy demands a diligent and informed how will hold the leaders to account not naïve, useless and lazy a***holes who will elect the same corrupt and incompetent village idiot leader again and again and again.

  10. They are free citizens just like Mugabe is a free citizen but as long these people hold or aspire to hold public office then they be put under the Wilbert Mukori microscope and thoroughly scrutinized. If any of them do not like to be so scrutinized then they know what to do – get the hell out off public life! That is fair and I cannot be more fairer than that.
“If you got issues with them you have every right to vote for whoever you so choose,” you are right there. And that is exactly what I am doing; I do not wait for the one day in five years to have a say or hold those in office to account; I do it 24/7 for five years.
Mujuru and Biti betrayed the people of Zimbabwe, that is a big issue and I am here to make sure every Zimbabwean know how these two sold-out and, worse still, plan to sell-out again if elected back on the gravy train. I am here to ensure the gravy train is derailed for good by making sure all the democratic reforms are implemented.
Mark my words and mark them well; all the democratic reforms will be implemented and the people of Zimbabwe will have free, fair and credible elections. The people of Zimbabwe have waited for 35 years now to exercise this basic right; their wait is nearly over and I will not have some corrupt and incompetent village idiots betray the people again!

  11. Biti won his seat in parliament but lost his seat on the gravy train! Winning the first but not the last is not quite the same; it is like being kicked out of first class into the wagon with animals.

  12. Zimbabwe is in a serious political and economic mess with millions now out of work and many of them living in abject poverty. We have to find a way, a realistic way out of this mess. Yes, this is all I ever talk about, I do not deny that for a minute; what is there else to talk about?
We are in this mess because people like you delude yourself into thinking if we ignore the problems, they will all disappear. For 35 years the problems have got worse and not better. No it is you who need to wake up and smell the humus!

  13. Wilbert you are too angry to be a commentator. Besides you repeat everything that has been written by the media to score your low blows to whoever you are targeting in your article. I find your articles to be very shallow and devoid of common sense. People are not stupid you know. What is wrong with Biti and Mujuru talking? What are you and what you done other than writing long winding and boring essays as commentaries? Tipeiwo maserious please ndapota!

  14. I stopped reading when you inaccurately said Biti lost his seat in the 2013 elections. If you can’t get simple facts right, how can you them make any sensible analysis or commentary? It seems you start with the answer and look for facts to support you view, this is a wrong approach to being a credible commentator or analyst.

  15. Haiwa tibvire kumhepo iwe! Who are are youto tell us about biti & joice? They are free citizens & have every reason to do what ever they want. So please if you got issues with them you have every right to vote who ever you so choose. At least there will be heaps of choices.

  16. One problem you have Wilbert is that of being a perennial critic. You criticise everyone from Mugabe, through Biti, Ncube, Tsvangs, Mujuru, Mangoma and indeed anyone else who takes a political stance. You have neither praise nor reprieve for anyone. That can be quite depressing. If you pull down everyone who then should the populace look up with hope? Any recommendations? You?

  17. @chokwadi I agree with you. Wilbert smells flowers and looks around for a coffin. Kkkkkkkkk ane pfungwa dzakaumburukwa nechidembo.

  18. Have you ever said anything good about anybody in your life Wilbert Mukori? Kungosvora nakusvora chete chete. You are not the source of any news but you hijack news makers with your vitriolic and shambolic comments. Yes, the opposition is not being successful yet. How can you help to make them create change? Certainly not through your pained pen. You’re getting so paranoid about the politics of our nation to the extent I suspect you’re perhaps not well….. mentally I mean. Advise us on the correct way forward. Feed is with ideas not insults. Tingagone sei tisingadzidziswe? Be helpful for a change. We are all confused with the goings on in our political groupings. Be the light and open up our minds. Transform us with love. Be mature, grow up. Read Col 3 verse 8.
