Dear Editor,
Two police officers (pictured) were shot dead by a criminal in Chipinge yesterday afternoon in a bloody really “terrifying” scene.
The incident occurred at around 1400hrs.
The two, a Sergent and the other, a Constable, were deployed for operation Zvigwagwagwa yesterday after a tip off that there were robbers seen carrying guns during the night now residing at a property.
When they arrived at the house, they managed at the first to arrest one of the criminals who was out side the building.
He then directed the servicemen to one of the rooms where his colleague was.
Upon entering the room, the colleague somehow managed to jump from his bed, took his AK rifle and soon managing to fire some shots at the two cops as well as his friend.
The two policemen who are from Chipinge urban PISI section Sgt Mazhara and Sgt Shumba were shot dead on the spot.
A third officer Cst Madenga managed to escape and ran away.

Guys, have you noticed that there has been poor coverage of this story by mainstream media (Zimpapers)? I am yet to see the Manica Post today but eish, it looks like they ignored such a grave matter all together. Story going around is that the said thug is a Presidential Guard who was poaching Rhinoceros in a local game reserve. He left his phone and uniform at the house where he was staying (at crime scene)

This is a serious matter, criminal shooting at service men, the criminal must be caught and justice must prevail, this must be stopped, nipped in the bud otherwise Zimbabwe gives way to terrorism. The culprit must be apprehended and dealt with accordingly as a way of sending a signal out there.

Evaluation of skills training for various categories of the police services personnel?
Availability and utilization of serviceable and fully operational equipment?
Role reviews to match responsibility and level of competence?
A lot could be done to improve the Chipinge Police services and replicate improvements in other areas to improve practice standards.

I think these police must be shot dead including Chihuri as I don’t even see their importance in terms law and order. They are used to arrest innocent MDC supporters who will be un armed. To Tino I would like to tell you that, I personally celebrate their death as its a sign that Mugabe’s security is very very poor and if we think of gun to gun war Mugabe will never win as his solders or army is corrupt, poor and has no morale.
This is really sad.Sad.indeed.I have always maintained that thousands of youths in South Africa will bring mayhem when the SA government terminates 200 000 + permits in 2017.The violence is a direct brain child of ZANU PF through its violent land reform and systematic killing of opposition members.Today, youths of Zim in SA are doing serious crimes, together with Mozambicans.Guns are sold cheap, R100 a pistol.Back home, very few officers have handled guns and the fleeing officer is a pure testimony of police officers’ lack of skills to handle dangerous criminals.We have to move with time.Its no longer a matter of arresting cattle thieves.These are criminals who have seen bloody money, quick money and with blood in their hands.They face a police unit , poorly equipped and with false knowledge that they can arrest anyone.ZANU PF has brought all this.
Today its highly dangerous to stop at Ngundu halt any time after 7 pm.Its not safe in Gwanda either.These were the two popular resting places after a long drive from Mzansi.Today you do it at your own risk.Guns are now in the villages , especially Ngundu area, Mwenezi, Rutenga and Gwanda areas.It needs police officers with high intelligence to engage the public and ensure that lowvelds areas are not going to be crime invested.Remember the instability of lowvelds will make Malawi, Angola, DRC, Zambia turn to Dar es Salaam port of Tanzania as Durban will be dangerous to go.This will translate to loss of revenue to Zimbabwe.Its a pity that we do not have strategic leaders who account for their actions , and who have a burning desire to see a prosperous Zimbabwe.
The death of the two officers is heavily condemned, never celebrated by anyone.But Chihuri must either step down or allow fresh ideas from other capable officers.No one wants lawlessness.ZANU PF must know it is directly responsible for this.RIP fellows.
