By Oluhle Sibanda| A City Liner bus traveling from Johannesburg went up in flames early this morning.

At the time of writing, ZimEye was told by a source that there were no casualties. But the bus company issued caution saying investigations were still underway so they could not communicate anything at present.
“Oh yes the bus that caught fire earlier on (today).
“Basically that situation is still being investigated but so far we have not heard anything about anybody being hurt…the only that’s damaged is the coach,” a receptionist said Monday morning.

This is a wake up call to our government to become more stringent when allowing operators of public transport to import buses for use in their businesses. Some buses come with faulty electrical wiring, others faulty steering while the majority come in with glass fibre bodies which are ripped open upon collision with even standard cars, thus exposing passengers to great danger. A new organ that scrutinizes these requirements and ensures their enforcement would bring less grief to the nation.
