Former Vice President Joice Mujuru has officially registered her political party with the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission.
The party to be known as People First Movement completed its registration procedures this week by submitting the party constitution with ZEC, confirming an expose by ZimEye.com two weeks ago.
Interim Secretary General Rugare Gumbo told media that the party is now in full swing following the registration and will be launched soon.
According to Gumbo the party has been finding difficulties in operation as it could not hold public meetings as an unregistered organisation.
Gumbo said that following the registration, party President Joyce Mujuru will be undertaking nationwide visits of the provinces in preparation for the launch of the party.
Meanwhile, sources within the party claim that Mujuru will today be meeting with targeted party leaders from Matabeleland North and South in Harare. Several high ranking political figures from both ZANU PF and opposition parties strategically nominated from all the Matabeleland constituencies are expected to attend the meeting where Mujuru will be presenting her party to the leaders.
The sources could however not shed light as to who to expect in the high profile meeting. However, previous media reports have indicated that mostly officials from the Tendai Biti led PDP, ZAPU and Welshman Ncube led MDC have been enticed to the party and shown great interest in joining the former Vice President.
Gumbo has also previously indicated that the party is seeking young and vibrant leadership from other opposition parties to make the party a true united force against ZANU PF and not only encompass former ZANU PF members.
They party recently dissolved all its interim provincial structures and said elections for leaders will be done at the party’s inaugural congress to be held after the launch.

Yes Mujuru may not be genuinely weaned out of ZANU, nonetheless, any manouver is better to distabilise Zanu PF support by breaking it into two pieces at the ballot. Thats why it makes sense for all opposition coalition forces to converge and give that woman benefit of the doubt and say ok lets have an electoral pact. Not coming together for good – but just an electoral pact to fend off the remaining half in Mugabe’s corner with the ultimate objective of getting rid of the old fossil. With the goal of a new face achieved, it will be easier to manouver before the new face gains momentum. Nyuchi dzinomoreka zviri nyore ndedzisiri dzegonera Zvikomborero.
