Terrence Mawawa | Zaka |Local villagers have been stunned by an incident in which a local boy impregnated his half sister, following a long period of sexual encounters between the two orphaned siblings.
The boy aged 18 and the girl(17) from Svovonho Village, under Chief Nyakunhuhwa ,Zaka, stay with their grandfather following the passing on of their father. It is understood the two maintained a suspiciously tight relationship. A close relative told ZimEye.com the matter came to light when the girl fell pregnant in April this year.
“At first we thought it was just a friendship since they were orphans but we were told by other villagers the two had a sexual relationship.They were spotted having sex in the nearby bushes.The girl then indicated her half brother was responsible.When the grandfather learnt of the pregnancy he also tried to conceal the issue,”said a relative who declined to be named. Sources further disclosed the grandfather proceeded to give the two a kitchen to sleep in after discovering the girl was pregnant. A police source last week said:”The whole issue is complicated ,incest is not only a cultural taboo but illegal in Zimbabwe.It can be punishable by a jail sentence.We are carrying out investigations on the matter.We will be able to take action after getting all the details we need.”
