By Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo| MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai has declared his party will come out in full force and bury President Robert Mugabe together with his legacy.
Addressing MDC members at the provincial council at the party offices in Rhodhene Masvingo on Saturday, Tsvangirai who is battling to contain dissent in his party, said the opposition party was determined to push for electoral reforms ahead of the 2018 polls .
Tsvangirai, the only opposition leader to defeat President Robert Mugabe in the 2008 harmonised elections before the victory was reversed through a bloody campaign ahead of the presidential election runoff, told party members there was need for vigilance in the battle against the Mugabe regime.
“What is important is for us to focus on our objective of winning power .
“Come 2018, we are going to bury Mugabe and his party once and for all. Let us all be united and fight against Mugabe and his cronies. People have suffered for too long so we are going to push for reforms before any elections,” said Tsvangirai.
The former premier however was evasive on joining the grand coalition. He only said it was fundamental for opposition parties to join hands but he was quick to point out that his party was not part of the grand coalition.
Tsvangirai said it was too premature to rule the MDC out of the 2018 electoral race.
Many political analysts believe the MDC leader has lost the charisma to lure millions of supporters as he used to do. Meanwhile Tsvangirai also ordered party members to carry out a structure audit exercise.
ZimEye.com can reveal that the exercise commenced on Sunday in Masvingo Province since Tsvangirai fears the area could be one of former Vice President Joice Mujuru’s strongholds.
The people of Zimbabwe,hard pressed by socio-economic chaos in the country are hoping for a change of leadership that will usher in a new political dispensation.

Tsvangirai had five years to implement the GPA reforms and failed to get even one reform implemented!
Prove he is corrupt and show us when he was ever convicted considering the hammer falls heavily on opposition leaders. Guys we lie about sanctions Smith had worse than this and a war but he built a strong economy which we destroyed.

Oh so according to you its because of the sanctions that Mugabe blows all that money on airfares and his cronies in and out of the country when civil servants are not paid. Is that because of the sanctions

Sanyanga… ndiwe stooge iwe. The economy of Zimbabwe was not destroyed by the West as you say, but you and mugabe through wrong policies and violence.
Power to govern can only be won via the elections , not conniving with the US to tighten sanctions on our economy,hoping the suffering masses will vote for a stooge of the West.
