A cellphone thug has been thrown into prison for 11 months.
The man from Mbare, was last Friday sentenced to 11 months incarceration for breaking into Mr Will Kumanguwo’s house and stealing two handsets.
The daring thief, one Tinotenda Chirume on the 30th November, invaded the house through a window before stealing two cellphones worth $110. Chirume, 26, of Nenyere Flats pounced into Kumanguwo’s house while the latter was watching television.
Kumanguwo had locked the doors of his house but forgot to close the bathroom window.
The court was told Kumanguwo saw Chirume taking the phones. It was at that point that Kumanguwo called for help from neighbours.
However Chirume escaped through the same window but was soon caught by neighbours while fleeing.
Only one mobile phone worth $50 was recovered.
He appeared before Mbare magistrate Ms Anita Tshuma  facing charges of unlawful entry and was sentenced to 15 months in jail while three months were suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour.
Another month was also suspended on condition Chirume pays back Will Kumanguwo $60 by January 13. He will serve an effective 11 months.
