Flamboyant businessman Phillip Chiyangwa was last week barred from entering the UK, his daughter has revealed.
Chiyangwa who was meant to fly his private jet together with performing artists Lloyd Tevedzai, Kapfupi and Marabha for his daughter’s book launch function, was told at the last minute he would not be allowed to fly his jet following complaints that he was to hold a political meeting there, his daughter Stephanie said.

Stephanie who lives in London had advertised the function with her father’s face on the front cover of brochures as the main guest of honour.
But the brochures also included Strive Masiyiwa’s name as well. Masiyiwa who is perceived to be a supporter of the opposition MDC party never turned up reasons for which were neither declared nor known publicly at the time of writing.
It was only three artists performing at the function who were allowed after anonymous callers reportedly telephoned the UK Border Agency complaining that Chiyangwa was to hold a political meeting there. Stephanie said the same callers also telephoned the hotel threatening attacks on the building because of Phillip Chiyangwa’s presence.
According to Stephanie, the reason why her father’s journey was blocked is because of the threats.
‘Someone called the Home Office and the hotel threatening and saying that we were going to conduct a political meeting,’ she said. During the July elections she remotely campaigned from her UK home for her father to win the Chinhoyi constituency.
When the event was finally held on Saturday night, the only high profile person present was Tourism Minister Walter Mzembi.
Meanwhile it was claimed that Chiyangwa has finally been granted a UK visa after an appeal and will be arriving in London on Friday, reports which have remained unverified for validity.

  1. It is common knowledge chiyangwa wanted to go to uk to visit Rhodies he used to work for as a BSAP constable during the 70s

  2. Interesting real! The country is going dwn the drain and the likes of Chiyangwa are buying jets. Is he back on his high paying Israel spying job?i

  3. Who say Masiiwa supports MDC. Masiiwa supports anything clean. There was no way he was to be associated with hypocrites who criticise UK every minute and have their daughters ensconced there. But VaChiyangwa vakapenga vanotove ne Jet inosvika UK vaMugabe vasina mukuru wenyika.

  4. lier lier…storm in a tea cup. There is no such thing as being refused entry because he was going to talk zanu politics…how was Walter Mzembi allowed then?

  5. @dick why bother about European countries? We have our own African Union countries we can fly to. Sudan, somalia, congo etc

  6. have come to believe that murungu haambofa akada kuti tiyenzane naye asi kuti anongoda kunzi boss boss chete,if you want new loan in your garden you uproot the old one and plant itsva?

  7. @chando kupisa if we indigenise the way you see the world then The Air Force of Zimbabwe will not have even a single jet. The president’s ‘Fly Past’ will a thing of the past like the door to door milkmen. If looting state resources is indigenisation then banning us from entering other countries would be appropriate.

  8. ZPF likes nice things, but fail to develop their own country to first world standards. ZPF criticizes Britain, yet they are regular visitors to the same Country. Poor and simple minds. I have observed this even with “Zimbabawe’s biggest idiot” Tsvangirayi, he has a big grin from one ear to the other, when surrounded by whites.
Is this an African problem, or a mental issue.

  9. wy not sharing all the wealth with poor pple and loan out money to support indinisation to fellow countrymen? jet him him to uk wr is air zim? pride chiyangwa .humble urself like masiiwa

  10. Chiyangwa is the man he has shown us that Zanu Pf can Indigenise, empower, develop and employ. Most Zimbabweans will soon own jets like Chiyangwa especially when we indigenise the air force and air Zimbabwe. Keep it up fellow! Mabritish ane jerasi.
