Staff Reporter |A plot by suspected members of the notorious Central Intelligence Organisation to smear the person of civic leader, Bekezela Maduma Fuzwayo backfired this morning.
Fuzwayo the vocal chairman of the Gwanda Residents Association, was summoned to Gwanda Law and Order this morning. “Been summoned to report at the CID Law and Order Gwanda. Not sure what for. Under normal circumstances would have gone there without worry but with all that is happening in the country am definitely worried. Will be reporting there in an hour,” said Fuzwayo.
“Praying for the best,” he said, given government’s crackdown against voices of dissent civic activists lead uncertain lives.
It turns out some faceless thugs went on a smear campaign against Zimbabwe People First leader, Joice Mujuru, writing flyers which denounced the former Vice President and signing of as Fuzwayo.
It is a no brainer that a well known and respected community leader Fuzwayo would be cleverer than that. ” Some thugs or agents somewhat decide to write posters and fliers denouncing Joice Mujuru’s leadership in Mat South and Harare puts my name address and phone number at the bottom of the fliers and posters. Goes further to take the same posters and pastes them at ZANU PF offices in Gwanda and buildings around the ZANU PF offices,” explains Fuzwayo.
At the Law and Order Fuzwayo was interrogated and asked to make a statement.
Fuzwayo warns those behind the smear campaign, ” To those doing this they need to know that I am not a novice in this game and did not know ZANU PF yesterday that I would write posters put all my details and paste on their walls. I can not be that shallow.”
Abammeli Human Rights Lawyers were quick to follow up on Fuzwayo, ensuring he was safe.
