David Coltart |For all those Christians who believe that Joice Mujuru has no role to play in Zimbabwe’s future because of her past I ask that they prayerfully consider the application of Galatians 1:13-24. I am not equating Joice to Paul, nor am I endorsing Joice in any way. But I seek to challenge those who think that our past irredeemably prevents us from playing a role in the future of our country. If that were the case then not a single person who fought for Rhodesia would have any part to play. I think the important issue is whether a person has turned from their past. If there is a genuine turning, a real repentance of past conduct and clear evidence of a determination to forge a constructive new future for our country, then any person who does that must be able to contribute to our future.

Indeed that is the essence of the cross. When Jesus promises that we are forgiven, we are forgiven, irrespective of what we have done in the past. There are no exceptions to that promise.

  3. The problem I have is when Africans cannot distinguish between deception and humanity when they are being exploited by white people. The former slave and colonial masters mastered the art of deception through the United Nations where they continue exploiting black people using phrases like: We the people …. Human rights for all… Development for all, etc when “We” and “All” means white people.White people have never repented for enslaving, colonizing and exploiting black people over the centuries right up to today. Let us pray that God opens the black peoples eyes.

  6. But Tswangirayi himself was a senior ZANU PF cadre during the Gukurahundi killings in Mthwakazi. He has never offered the nation the secrets that he knows about what actually transpired? He attended meetings – he should tell us what was being discussed? Furthermore, he should also tell us why he didnt find a reason to resign from ZANU PF at the time, when the ongoing killings became known to him? He should also tell us whether indeed he believes there were dissidents in the country, and if so, how exactly did they come about? What led those boys to rebel? Humans dont just rebel from authority for no reason.

    Thank you ever so much David for the quotation. There is nothing wrong in equating mai Mujuru with Paul. The difference is that Paul openly and in public testified about his past.
    The people who knew him are the people who were doubtful and scared of him because they knew his past. I do not think that the citizens are worried that she is unable to deliver but her past in the government needs to publicly known to clear the citizens’ minds.
    Paul had to tel his encounter with Jesus Christ of Nazareth for the people to believe him otherwise many people ran away from him many a time.
    Mai Mujuru is a citizen who has been in the government for decades, the country and the economy was run down, elections stolen. Being truthful and penitent, she needs to tell the citizens what happened because it helps in identifying who exactly was the trouble maker.
    If she was involved, she needs to declare her part just like Paul in the stoning of Stephen that he was looking after the coats of those who were doing the killing. The citizens needs to know her part without any airbrushing.
    When the citizens ask what happened to their votes, she has to honestly answer and even if it means she will be assassinated by her former boss, it even frees the minds of the citizens to love her even more.
    Whatever she is saying now, should not be because she wants regime change so as to become the next President but clean the air for the citizens first then herself. If her former boss is a devil, why would she harbor anything? let the citizens know so that whoever gets to that position will know how they should conduct themselves as they serve the nation of Zimbabwe.

    LET THE CITIZENS HEAR AND KNOW. AND SHE NEED TO DECLARE GIVE BACK WHAT SHE BENEFITED FROM THE GOVERNMENT IN THE WRONG WAY JUST LIKE THE TAX COLLECTOR ZACHEUS AND THAT INCLUDES ALL THOSE WITH HER IN HER PARTY THEN THE CITIZENS WILL JUDGE FOR THEMSELVES WHAT KIND OF A PERSON SHE HAS BECOME.
    THERE ARE PEOPLE TO BE CHARGED FOR ABUSE OF OFFICE IT IS NOT MAI MUJURU TO TELL THE CITIZENS WHO, IF SHE CAN THAT WILL BE OKAY BUT THEY WILL BE NICKED ANYWAY. ALL SHE HAS TO FOCUS ON IS HER PART FOR THE SAKE OF THE CITIZENS AND HER PARTY.

  10. well said David, I do not think there is anyone who is better, all of us we have our short comings, I know its not all of us who believe in the Bible, but truth must be said no one is perfect or good, if we have someone who is trying to build Zim from the rubbles, it can be from the opposition or Zanu I think we should allow them to do so, they might have their rotten past, I don’t think there is anyone who is perfect, everyone including us who are always on the keyboards we have our hidden skeletons, if we can be asked to lead Zim we can fail as well, at least their skeletons are out and known by everyone , what we are looking for now, its for someone who can take us out of this shitville Zim, and bare in mind we will never find a perfect being, lets give them the benefit of the doubt those who have turned around and so it fit to the right thing, pointing fingers it will never help us out citizens, we need a Moses who will take us out of Egypt of hunger and poverty, even in the bible they were cruel and ruthless people but they repented because they were given a chance to do so, lets give a chance those who trying to change things in Zim, we have learnt from Mugabe regime, so no one will stay more than 2 terms, after 2 terms they must go.
