London(ZimEye)Zimbabwe’s minister of Education and Sport, David Coltart has asked Britain’s most feared foreign policy guru to assist the Zim government despite the current problems it is facing.
The UK’s foreign secretary William Hague is Britain’s most feared government official who Robert Mugabe recently expressed personal concerns of following the UK’s recent ousting of ally Muammar Gaddafi and a warning Hague sent out to other dictators following Gaddafi’s topling.
During his meeting with Hague and the Duke of York Prince Andrew, Coltart said he told the UK secretary foreign secretary William Hague that the UK needs to do all it can to assist the GPA(GlobalPolitical Agreement).
William Hague
“I met both Foreign Secretary William Hague and the Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, last night at a reception in Lancaster House and had a chance to discuss with both the need for Britain to do all it can to assist the GPA. I said it was fragile and imperfect and that there were still many problems in Zimbabwe – but that the GPA remains the only viable, non violent option open to us,” he said.
Coltart said he requested Hague to reverse a ban on cricket with Zimbabwe:
“I specifically asked the Foreign Secretary to reconsider the effective ban on England and Scotland playing cricket against Zimbabwe. I was well received by both,” he said.
Coltart has been on a five day official vist to the United Kingdom where he is attending an annual meeting of Ministers of Education from throughout the world – and the Apple Summit on Wednesday (ZimEye, UK)

  1. Ask your brothers,Chematama,Mbiti, Welshman Ncube,Coltart who were on the fore front in calling for sanctions to the extent of being used by the Americans to craft ZIDERA,compiling list of names of people and companies to be put on sanctions simply because the GVT decided empower its citizens through land reforms.Mukajairira kuiswa nekumanyuwa dzimwe nguva pfungwa dzinotiza.Smell the coffee iwe Denny Mushy, ndimi ma briefcase economists semukoma wako Mbiti.

  3. i think we r wasting a lot of tym talking politics instead of geting solutions to our economic problems.we have the resources,we have the abiliy soo y not try to make them politicians see that we r concerned about the greater good for Zimbabweans than an elite few.sovereignity comes with being economically, financially, militarily, agriculturally independent of any other nation.r we?or r we still colonised by the chinese who r raping our country?

  4. Hon Coltart please dont try and pull wool over our eyes. You, Welshman et al were responsible for assisting in crafting ZDERA and sending the first batch of names to the US Senat Sub committee on foreign relations. Now you want to talk like a saviour of Black Zimbabweans. Do you think we eat cricket? Stop patronizing us man!

  5. Some people are mentally sick who still believe in the supremacy of the whites particulary the British,or should i say as Africans we still have this tendency of looking down upon ourselves. At CHOGM last year in Australia the British Prime Minister said for any country to qualify for aid from Britain it has embrass homosexuality in its constitution. Then you hear someone praising such people whose policy is meant to destroy our social fabric and is targeted at third world countries. As Zimbabweans lets be proud of what we are and lets not get swayed away.Hanzi Zundu rikagara mundove hazvirevi kuti rave ndove.

  6. The words of HISTORICAL LIARS are worthless!
Alert Africans cannot care what one pale devils say to another. It is NEVER EVER going to be in Africans’ favor.
African can only care about clearing their Ancestral lands of the invading pale pests and parasites.

  7. Lolest, Zim wil get on its feet, when it decides to get down on its high horse. Interdependence is wat meks the economy grow in any nation. See N.Koreans they die from starvation bcoz of their leaders selfishness. They claim they are self sufficent papi pacho wen the late Kim aizvitengera expensive imported delicates achidya muchivande. We ol rely on each other, so magame ecricket ngaadzoke

  8. There sis something wrong with young Zimbabweans. You suffer from inferiority complex. Who is afraid of Hague, definitely not the brave men of Zimbabwe. The Rhodesian that Mugabe and Nkomo fought are of British stock. Why should Mugabe fear Hague now and not in the past.
Coltart is white. He was talking to his kith and kin. This has nothing to do with the average African.
Tell me a country which is outside Europe which Uk has helped and is now self sufficient.

  9. Oh dear! This is a painful read. Not sure what help those 2 can provide…It’s like asking Zim Gvt to provide electricity, clean running water & health care). Its good to network etc but reckon you speaking to the wrong people & perhaps @ the wrong venue too (Lancaster House – where you know who in 1979 capitulated & vowed to be defender of white capital as long as he was given the status of honorary English gent).
Oh yeah btw this headline is very misleading….Hague is feared by who? Maybe by only young old Bob, don’t mind him he is fearful of everyone (why else do you think the paranoia, bloated security & summary executions). As for Prince Andrew he has “stepped down” from his trade envoy role under a cloud & don’t forget the United Kingdom is a constitutional monarchy (all ceremonial & no real power).
No one is perfect but be very careful of reputation risk. Zanu PF with its disproportionately large number of incompetent morons has 1 or 2 “effective” spin doctors who can make a hullabaloo.
With regards to cricket…I think that’s well within your remit as sports minister and I think you have been an effective advocate for Zim cricket.

  10. Zim tourism sector and vendors will benefit from cricket games being constantly played in Zim and also Zim pple wil have sumwer to distress and get them excited about something. Well done Coltart at least you took the initiative to ask for the ban to be lifted. I love cricket and make sure when I am in Zim I always attend matches whenever I can.

  11. From his abridged CV above, Bill Hague can’t “assist the Zimbabwean govt” – he is too bloodied to see clearly. How many times should we say this: Zimbabwe does not need external solutions, we can solve our problems internally. Do you want Hague to come and sort out multiple farm ownership, resuscitate AirZim, ZUPCO, NRZ, GMB, stop corruption, tribalism, cronyism, nepotisn, etc? NO! We know some people are fed up of Mugabe or ZANU PF but Mavambo, MDCs, ZAPU and others should offer better alternatives and better leadership. Unfortunately and lamentably, we are not measuring up to ZPF!! Shame on us…

  12. The sellouts are at it again what assistance does this ************hope to get from the British? He is one of the architects of ZIDERA,now he wants to fool us into believing that he is so concerned about ZIM.Mwana wemandu imhandu chete.

  13. Zimbabweans want a long lasting solution to the problems not assistance to fulfill ever changing GPA parties demands. We should be in full swing campaigning now but the parties dilly dally while busy making money all over. The British want to create a climate favorable to their kith and kin here and this is causing divisions among Zimbabweans. They cannot have an effective role at all. Let us just have elections. Zanupf strongly believe that the British are part of the MDC plans so they have become part of the problem. What assistance can they give?
