Zimbabwe: Harare Is Burning

A huge fire engulfed Harare from the city’s Vainona surbub on Sunday morning.
A huge ball of smoke continued to rise out of Vainona Pomona two hundred metres above ground and could be seen from as far as Mt Pleasant. The cause of fire was not known just as the fire brigade was failing to combat the fire.
Meanwhile there was speculation that the fire may have been caused by someone trying to destroy rubbish heaps at a nearby dumping site.

A comment could not be obtained from the fire service at the time of writing as servicemen were struggling to stop the furious fumes.

  1. Editor are you not worried that the quality of reader comments is shockingly low. Basically it is a name-calling platform and no substantive input to national debates and issues. Can you not do something about this?

  2. Yea,there is bitterness and crude hatred in people!what is it?Is it years of bottledup failures, frustration and hopelessness which none of you dares express openly to a visible accountable audience? So you getting solace from shelling your artillery behind the cover of your gadgets’screens and false names?Shame.jumpdak, chatunga, boriako, naked, black mamba, ndumiso I dont know you but judging from your frequent contributions on thìs platfom, you’re failures in life and an embarrasment to your own consciences.A man who feels good about himself and his enviroment seldom gets time to spew the rubbish that has become associated with your names

  3. The trerrorists of Zimbabwe believe they are something in the world…reality is no one cares….they made their calls in 1980 and now must live with it…starve. burn and cry maningi zonke gudo’s…live your shallow lives ..idiots the lot of you nguruvies with no backbone

  7. We know you zinja u you started the fire so that you can see rat holes. You think we dont know. Why is lalidonki calling it nothingness. Rat eating rat.

  8. Kkkkk It was the sanctions that started this fire…. I there were no sanctions there would be enough water in dams to put out this fire…or the people wouldn’t have started the fire because they would be shopping in Paris… lol

  9. I can’t believe people are saying this isn’t ‘news’. Do any of you even realise the ramifications of this fire??? The millions of tonnes of poisonous gas that has been released into the air?? What happens when the rains come?? It will bring all that poison back down to earth and will drench your crops in poisonous water!! Your crops, if they don’t die, will then have traces of these poisons which you will then eat, which will cause cancer and a host of other diseases. Do you have access to the medical care you need to cure cancer or treat any other diseases that this will cause??? And what about all the animal life that has been lost??? What about all the disabled and deformed children that will be born because of these toxins???
This fire wasn’t the result of sanctions, or anything else. This fire was the result of stupidity. Stupid Zimbabweans who think they can burn and throw their rubbish wherever they want, not realising that they are killing themselves and their families. If you don’t care about the environment, do you not care about your husbands, wives and children??? Your parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins???
Wake up!!! Every packet you throw out of your car, every fire you start, contributes to the destruction of your health and that of your families! The government is not going to fix this problem, lifting sanctions is not going to fix this problem, only YOU can fix this problem!
