Deeply troubled Robert Mugabe who left Nigeria at the weekend for Equatorial Guinea after being humiliated there, left that country Guinea Monday to arrive in war-torn Sudan.
Mugabe who is the AU and SADC chairperson arrived in Khartoum, the capital city of the Republic of Sudan, perhaps to seek peace and solace with overstaying president President Omar al Bashir who has recently been re-elected amid equal controversy as the 91 year old leader Mugabe, as analysts said.
Analysts speculated that Mr Mugabe is struggling to recover from the horrifying humiliation at the hands of Nigerian journalists who grilled him on when he is leaving power.
Mugabe is attending Bashir’s inauguration in his capacity as chairperson of the African Union after Mugabe’s own observer missions ruled the elections as free and fair.
He left Malabo, the capital city of Equatorial Guinea Monday morning after a 2-day consultative working visit.
He was seen off at the Malabo International Airport by his counterpart, President Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, cabinet ministers and some senior officials from the government of Equatorial Guinea.
Mugabe, who is accompanied by several hangers on Foreign Affairs Minister Simbarashe Mumbengegwi, Presidential spokesperson George Charamba and several other senior government officials, was warmly welcomed at Khartoum International Airport by Sudanese President Omar Hassan Ahmed Bashir, some members of his cabinet, Zimbabwe’s ambassador to Sudan, Hilda Mavhudze and Zimbabwe embassy staff members.
After the national anthem, the AU chairman then proceeded to inspect a Guard of Honour.
Mugabe, the oldest among the various heads of state, will join others scheduled to attend the inauguration of the controversially re-elected Sudanese President to be held at the National Assembly, called the Omburaman.
President Bashir won the elections by 94 percent. Tuesday’s inauguration marks his second term in office since the cessation of the Republic of Sudan from South Sudan in 2011 after a national referendum.
Speaking to journalists before leaving Harare, Minister Mumbengegwi said the elections held in Nigeria and the Republic of Sudan are very important and it is imperative for Africans to come together and celebrate whenever elections are held in a free and fair environment as this ensures peace and stability on the continent.

  6. At least Mugabe got the taste of his own medicine in Nigeria. While he does all that he likes in Zimbabwe, in Nigeria he got the meaning of what democracy is.In Zimbabwe, people disappear and instead of journalists to face the pepetrators, the focus on Tsvangirai. The people who were shocked are very surprising. You steal elections, no one goes to the streets.People disappear, no one is accountable.Kangai brings GMB to its knees, no one is arrested.Diamond money disappear, no one is accountable.People get 8 farms each, they applied.Natural disasters come to Tokwe Mkosi, people are treated like rats.Chinese want to start cement plant in Charumbira village, villagers are chased away from their land of 150 years like birds. There is no respect to human life.So Mugabe got one tenth of what he deserves.Treat a killer as a killer. That way Africa will redeem itself

  9. He will fly anywhere like a fly that flies to any dirty place. What a double disgrace he is! As for the body guards they are illiterate. They cant debate. They are used to kidnapping, torturing and murdering defenseless unarmed people. Politics of patronage will never produce normal political individuals. They only know murdering innocent people and praising the tyrant.
