Terrence Mawawa, Masvingo | As the Zanu PF factional wars intensify,war veterans and provincial party members have nullified the appointment of Amasa Nhenjana as the chairman for Masvingo Province.
The nullification came as part of resolutions of a provincial party meeting held at Masvingo Polytechnic last weekend.
The war veterans and provincial party members said they did not recognise Nhenjana’s appointment as the provincial chairman.
It is understood Nhenjana was imposed by Zanu PF National Political Commissar, Saviour Kasukuwere, a declared Grace Mugabe apologist, in a desperate bid to take control of political affairs in the province.
Outspoken war veterans national Secretary General, Victor Matemadanda said Ezra Chadzamira who was elbowed out by Kasukuwere would remain the chairman of the province. “As war veterans we nullify the decision to suspend Chadzamira.Therefore we are saying Chadzamira remains the legitimate chairman of Masvingo Province.We therefore do not recognise Nhenjana’s controversial appointment.We will work with Chadzamira, not Nhenjana,”said Matemadanda.
The war veterans said they would not be intimidated by Kasukuwere and his G-40 team. It is widely believed the G-40 team is clamouring for the elevation of Mrs Mugabe to the presidency, despite the fact that she has denied harbouring presidential ambitions in public.
While the Zanu PF factions are battling to outwit each other, thousands of hungry villagers remain in danger of starvation across the nation and the ruling party has no solution for the growing crisis, analysts commented saying.
