Outgoing Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s personal advisor, Dr Alex Magaisa has laid into a pseudo-journalist who wrote a story claiming that he has given up his job as Tsvangirai’s advisor.
In a strongly worded message, Magaisa offloaded his disgust at the ‘idiot’ journo’s behaviour which he described as base ‘gutter.’
Magaisa who is on holiday in the UK, was shocked to read his name in the story published in a website which claimed to even quote him stating he had quit his job for the sake of his family.
Below was his short statement he issued from his social networking portal:

Normally, I would not comment on items from the gutter press. But I am aware friends, colleagues, relations and supporters of the party who might otherwise believe every word they read on the internet may be in need of clarification. In doing so, one runs the risk of dignifying creations of hands and minds that belong to the gutter; imaginary stories in which a pseudo-journalist (because that individual cannot properly lay claim to the title of being a journalist) makes no attempt whatsoever to get a comment from the subject of his/her story. But on this occasion, I must do so nevertheless.
The story that you may have come across in recent days, apparently alleging that I have quit my advisory role, is completely false and without foundation. No one has spoken to me and how they come up with such nonsense is beyond me. Unfortunately, in the age of “copy and paste” journalism, I observe that even websites that might otherwise claim some iota of credibility have joined the race to the bottom to publish nonsense without verifying.

All I can advise is be a critical reader; you will save yourself from swallowing the garbage served in the name of journalism. If some idiot wakes up one bad morning and announces to the world that Magaisa is now a woman, I am not going to run around naked to prove that I am still a man.

  3. Bla Ndove Miki you are better at The Herald where lies are viewed as the truth. No amount of hate towards MDC T would make people like Zanu Pf. This vote rigging has made Zanu Pf the worst enemy of Zimbabweans. People will now boycott any Zanu Pf aligned business.

  10. Magaisa, your response was credible but you went way out of your way and compromised on your professionalism. 10 examples donot make your point stronger. You should simply have preserved professionalism and reasoned that the statements were unfounded, baseless and without merit. Period. Kwawazoendawo uko dzaa politics dzedu dzemuno dzemarovha ne boys dzekumombe. Just remain professional and.don’t be tempted into verbal diarrhoea.

  18. Silungisani – you really should consult a dictionary before making such a sweeping statement. Freedom of expression includes ideas and opinions and excludes slander and libel. The above article refers to libel. Both slander and libel mean the same, slander is spoken, libel is written and neither are acceptable in a democratic state.
