Terrence Mawawa| Mberengwa The entire local community has been thrown into shock and turmoil following an incident in which a man brutally killed his stepfather. Prominent Mberengwa businessman Alphonias Masvora (71)was brutally murdered by his stepson, Mkhokhe Moyo(37).
The reasons for the callous act remain unknown. Masvora was the owner of several retail outlets at Mataga Growth Point.
It is alleged that Moyo teamed up with Masvora’s brother, Tafaranazvo Hamadziripi, last Friday and went to his house where they attacked him with logs until he fell unconscious.
Masvora was rushed to Mnene Mission Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Midlands Police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Ethel Mukwende, confirmed the incident and said investigations were under way. “We are currently investigating a murder case which occurred in Mberengwa. in Ramunyenyiwa Village under Chief Chingoma, where it has been reported a man murdered his stepfather.”
“The reasons for the commission of the murder remain unknown.  We only know that the incident happened on July 15,2016. Moyo attacked his stepfather together with the deceased’s brother,”said Mukwende.
A relative who declined to be named said:”Masvora sustained injuries all over his body.He was seriously injured.Nobody knows the motive of the attack.It came as a surprise to all of us.We only heard there was a misunderstanding but we do not know what it was about.”
