nyamande Zimbabwe:MDC-T On Warpath as It Purges More Critics
Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s MDC-T party was on Monday slammed by critics when it emerged it has suspended another official for merely voicing survey findings on the party’s reported waning support and the need for Tsvangirai to up his act.
Mr Alex Nyamande a youth leader in Mbare was suspended after he voiced during a provincial meeting survey findings that Morgan Tsvangirai had lost touch with the people. This was during a meeting attended two weeks ago in Harare.
His suspension announced by youth leader Solomon Madzore comes around the same time that the party also suspended former Marondera Central MP, Ian Kay, who has been calling for Morgan Tsvangirai to step down as party leader.
He told ZimEye, “they are actually quoting a statement I used in a provincial council where I said in reference to the events that transpired during the run up to the elections. I was actually referring to the fact that at the moment or at that time he was not reachable. And I said it in this way, at this time we used to see MT coming down to the ground when we have problems, even up to constituency level, but for the past so and so months, we could not reach him. It was just said he is busy, he is busy. And then I said he is doing what, he is doing nothing.”
Nyamande said that is the statement that landed him in hot soup.
He added that his statement was then twisted by other cadres to mean that Tsvangirai was spending time with women instead of doing his job.
When contacted, national youth leader Solomon Madzore’s phone went on ringing without being answered.
The suspension has been met with muted protests within the party.  More to follow…

  3. I see it differently as to what mdct benefited from being in the gnu in terms of itself as a party and its leadership. The corrupt, the pretenders, the unprincipled etc showed themselves. These are the ones who run to the press each time they are found in error and are called to explain themselves. These oppotunists will try again their luck with Madhukus nca. If they go back to zanupf they will be accepted only to be used as statistics to show that there are defections in mdct and then they will be discarded to the cell level of the party. As for the whites, these had a wrong perception of Tsvangirai whom they viewed as their puppet by whom they would regain their supremacy. The reality is that Tsvangirai is not so dumb to know that the majority in Zimbabwe are the blacks and that it will be the votes of these majority blacks which will put him in power. So he will always put the interests of the black majority first but is pragmatic enough to also carter for the interests of other minority groups but only those which are not in contrast with the interests of the black majority.

  4. This seems implausible! In what manner did he voice this concern? If he was out of order eg shouting over the chair of the meeting then he had it coming. Seriously, though Staff Reporter, how can you expect someone who is that messy and has so much clutter in his own home to be capable of professional decorum in party politics?
    I’m not buying this one.

  5. MDC T should stop these suspensions and find out what people really think about the party. These suspensions are not good for the party. We are tired of hearing that “this or that” person has been suspended. Find out the root problems bedeviling the party. It would seem as if our party leaders have become dictators now. Maybe they learnt it from ZANU PF when they were in this unity government which most of the MDC_T supporters did not want at all. Our leaders should have refused to be in the same govt with these devils. Some of our leaders became very corrupt, and these are the people who made some supporters turn to ZANU PF.
A research should be carried out by MDC_T using an independent research body such as Probe Market Research. They will know the truth in the findings.

  6. vanachasura we understand your feelings, you are in it, so kana gule renyu rikaululiwa munorwadziwa. we see it patinofumura zve zanu pf pane maapologist anoedza all means to defend the undefendable. zvauri kutaura kuti kwakati hakuna pay chii, chii, happens every where, saka kana mdc ikadzinga mumwe wayo zvorega kutaurwa nekuti zanu haigoni kutonga? zveuori hwe zanu ngatizvitaurei asi hatinganyarari kutaurawo zvemdc kana pane zvinotaurika.

  7. If this is from the leadership then these MDC-T guys do not deserve to rule Zimbabwe. Honestly people cannot remove a dictatorship only to replace it with another one. We would rather let the current one continue until there is a proper democratic alternative.
