A SECURITY guard at Hwange Colliery Company recently strangled a medical doctor in his surgery after accusing him of writing a wrong report about his previous illness.
This was heard by Hwange magistrate Portia Mhlanga Moyo, when Stephen Gwasha (57) of Baghdad, area in Empumalanga, Hwange appeared before her yesterday charged with assault.
He denied the charge and the matter was remanded to November 9 for continuation of trial.
The complainant, Dr Didymus Ngorora of Airport Crescent, Hwange, is employed as a medical officer at Hwange Colliery Hospital.
It is the State case that on October 12 this year at 11:45am, Ngorora was at work attending to patients when Gwasha came to his office. He accused Ngorora of writing a wrong report about his previous illness, but the doctor denied the claim and asked Gwasha to sit down and clarify his problem.
Gwasha allegedly became violent and Ngorora tried to run out of the office, but Gwasha grabbed him by the neck choking him in the process before pushing him back into the office. Patients who were waiting to be attended heard the scuffle and rescued the doctor. Ngorora sustained bruises on the left arm and was treated at the Hwange Colliery Hospital.
Gwasha was then arrested and charged with assault.SouthernEye
