By Religion Analyst| The greatest sin in the world has been revealed. It is not adultery, or stealing, and neither is it murder. It is simply one word – fear, or cowardice.
Someone once wrote: Cowardice bids one to live as a slave rather than fight and die as a free man. Could the one that refuses to assist one who is in bondage be a coward?
Cowardice reasons, cowardice calculates; cowardice not only counts the cost of doing battle, but deems the cost of freedom and justice too high.
Cowardice submits to tyrants. Cowardice is the forsaker of women and children. Are there any cowards here?
It is because of fear that God boiled up in anger when the Israelis withdrew in fear and cowardice saying the Promised Land is full of violent assassins, evil giants. The Almighty God suddenly reversed 40 years of their precious lives pushing them into the dry dirty desert for nearly half a century.
All this happened when a great and terrible incident. This was when after reaching the borders of the beautiful land of promise (Canann) they chose to retreat in fear listening to 8 of their security men who published a report saying anyone who enters the promised land will be killed.
They said the land is impenetrable, we will all die if we enter. That simple report was enough to anger God Almighty to the point of reversing his promise of inheritance and after a long 40 year delay only two men (who were not fearful) from the entire Israeli nation over 3 million in number, managed to enter the land. The rest died in the wilderness with only their descendants entering on their behalf.
This is what will happen to any nation on earth which is fearful of change. Cowards are worse than murderers and assassins and they are listed in the book of Revelations as the worse of sinners who will be thrown into the Lake of fire according to Revelations 21:8.
Those who failed to enter the promised land did so after they read into and trusted in what the Bible calls “an evil report”. Some of the security men spread a bad report about the land they had explored. They said, “The land we explored devours those living in it. All the people we saw there are of great size”.
Journalists should learn to write stories that strengthen people’s faith not weaken them.
