By Irene Sithole| Society says I am blind but I see…
I see the discrimination and stigma targeted at me because my eyes can’t see…
I see how some look down upon me as a second class citizen…
I see the lack of information which I can access for my personal development…
I see the lack of facilities which are user friendly for me…
I see the lack of consultation for me and my colleagues to participate in all community and national activities for development…
I see how society struggles to accommodate my needs because I am viewed as needy, expensive and an inconvenience…
I see the world going by and I am lagging behind presently….
But beyond that I see my future, a future which my rights are not only recognised but promoted, and protected and fulfilled…
A future in which I am accorded the opportunity to reach my full potential and to contribute meaningfully to my personal achievement and upliftment of my fellow human beings…
I see a future filled with hope…
