Still in the game or out?,,Morgan Tsvangirai

Ndaba Nhuku|  Morgan Tsvangirai’s conspicuous absence in Pastor Evan Mawarire’s battles over the past weeks, relegates the once popular leader to the dust bin of history.
On the 11th of July Morgan Tsvangirai’s right hand man Charlton Hwende, made a dangerous statement, that sums up the MDC’s mood and attitude with regards to other political players in the prolonged fight for democracy.
I will not attempt to reword what Hwende wrote but reproduce it, as ;” After the baba Jukwa and then Pastor Makandiwa’s weekend prophecy our supporters must not be misled by Pastors working with ZanuPf to wage a fake revolution. # Tajamuka is going to organise more mass protests but not this Wednesday dates will be announced. ”
The above statement attracts more controversy and tarnishes the name of Tsvangirai and the MDC at a time when all Zimbabweans were uniting to speak with one voice over a matter incidentally the MDC itself claims to be a champion of, that of Mawarire’s freedom of expression.
Consequently, not many will take the opposition party seriously anymore, they have ridiculously made themselves champions and gate keepers of opposition politics ironically at a time when many are crossing the Red sea out of Egypt. One would then be forgiven in concluding rather harshly that Zimbabweans have been oppressed for such a prolonged time, with no reprieve in sight, because the MDC made up its mind to remain an opposition subservient to Zanu PF in perpetuity. Thus, when a golden opportunity to rise for what many of its members died for, Tsvangirai hides, his lieutenants shoot their mouths of.
Incidentally, those who have fought without wavering like Thabitha Khumalo fight lonely battles, abandoned by the same leadership.
And what of MDC T and its arrested officials? Did its councillors go to court to support its Harare Mayor? And there was MP Thabitha Khumalo again all by herself with no-one even visiting her. Why abandon your colleagues at their hour of need? We are yet to mature in our politics. We love noise but abandon each other when action is needed.

  1. @ Damascus I fully agree with you, even ZANU PF supporters were there as well, ndzara does not choose which party you belong to, everyone wants poverty to go including the police and solders, I bet you some of the officers were in support of this protest.

  3. @chindide:disqus , you are 100 % correct, you said a mouthful and MDCT did right not come out in full support but members of the MDCT were on the ground as well, its not about the party anymore, its about every Zimbabwean citizen, they is too much poverty at home.

  4. like it or not the MDC led by Tsvangirai IS THE FACE OF OPPOSITION POLITICS IN THIS COUNTRY,
All those who are in solidarity with the pastor are opposition members who are sympathetic to the Pastor, most of us MDC-T activists who baricaded the roads on 6th of July 2016.
Mawarire knows it that he has our backing….

  6. I also dont understand what this reporter is talking about. Pastor Mawarire made it very clear that he is not a politician and the MDCT issued a statement in full support of the Pastor’s call for a stay away . I read Gutu’s full statement in support. If the MDCT had come out in full support that was going to jeorpardise the campaign by Mawarire. Tsvangirai did very well to remain quiete because the security chiefs were waiting for what they called a hidden hand behind Mawarire and we were definitely going to see the Army at Rotten Row Courts yesterday. Besides, Tsvangirai is a sick man nowadays let him recuperate at home. We need that man in our struggle and he will come out in the open very soon. Lets not ridicule our dearest Tsvangirai please. The man rescued us from the jaws of poverty in 2008.Since then Zanu pf under Mugabe have been working tirelessly to dismantle the macro-economic stability established by Tsvangirai in 100 days. Now that Mawarire has risen today we should not be blinded by that to forget the heroism of Baba Morgan Tsvangirai. Mawarire is only joining the elite league of the brave Zimbabwean Heroes who defy the odds when it matters most.I absolutely dont agree with the contents of this article. It reflects a sick and dirty mind in you Mr Reporter….whatever your name

  8. Lets call a spade a spade. MDC-T think opposition to Mugabe is their prerogative. Anyone else who is not in their party is a Mugabe supporter. Only fools will continue to believe this. Mawarire is bringing in a new approach and it is appealing and convincing at the moment. People will ride any horse that takes them to freedom. Those benefiting from their political businesses can continue to waffle anything. Its time to move forward everyone! Well done Harare people for your disciplined, focused and above all effective protest on Wednesday the 13 at the court. Look at the massive support that you won for the people of Zimbabwe from all over the world even from ZanuPF admirers like Julius Malema, COSATU and with a Botswana newspaper openly calling on Mugabe to go. As it is now more demos were planned in Pretoria as well.

  10. With all due respect @ Grace Jones, Tsvangirai is recovering at home. Give the man a break. These demos are by the people and for the people and its gud that no politician is trying to muscle his way in and take credit.
