London – The Home Office has intensified its raids and pounced on 45 Zimbabwean citizens with temporary stay.
The Home Office has embarked on a rapid raid program in which they have arrested people at reporting centres, lawyers claimed to ZimEye last night.
“In two weeks, forty five (45) people have been detained.,” an immigration lawyer, Dr. Masimba Mavaza said.
He continued saying the detained “are at Yarlswood Detention Centre. Some are at Colnbrook centre and five are at Manchester Airport.
“They are arresting them on reporting,” he added.
A security guard at Yarlswood last night turned our request for the exact statistics of Zimbabweans detained there as at last night.
It was not clear at the time of writing why the UK government has shifted on its policy. More to follow as the story develops…

  1. Poor people, wrong time to be deported.!! Being sent back to a non functioning country where you are not safe whatsoever. Best of luck hama

  2. The clue is in the fact that these people are being picked up when they report. For those who do not know, asylum-seekers and other people in between immigration statuses are required by UK law to report regularly to a designated immigration reporting centre. If they have been refused further stay and do not have an appeal or fresh application pending, they stand a chance of being detained when they report. This is what has happened here.
The UK immigration authorities do not have the resources to hunt down every illegal immigrant. So, they focus on people they know for a fact they can remove. (There was an outcry when they spent over a £1 million in a month booking flights for people they could not remove). People who have been refused asylum etc and whose whereabouts are known- such as the ones who report- are easy to get.
Before, people would simply go underground. But new laws make it next to impossible to survive as an illegal in the UK. There is not only a fine for employing an illegal, but for taking one in as a tenant. Banks are required to close down the accounts of people here illegally. The definition of “proceeds of crime” has been extended to mean income earned by someone who is not allowed to work in the UK, which means that money in such accounts can be seized by the State. Drivers licences have also been cancelled.

  3. Your grandparents stole the land from us and made it illegal for Africans to own land, you got what was coming to you with that. My 98 year old grandmother remembers when white farmers kicked her father and family off their 300ha farm in Chipinge in the 1930s you people are just mad you lost your stolen loot.

  4. The shoe is now on the other foot, remember one thing comrade, you thieves stole all the white farmers homes, their farm equipment, all their cattle, their crops!!! Now it is pay back time, you must ALL be kicked out of here and we’ll make sure we get you kicked out!!?!

  5. You are wrong, our organization has worked with both immigration officials and the Border Agency for many years with the aim of sending most Zimbabweans back to Zimbabwe. It’s pretty easy, we start of by infiltrating a group or family and then work out who is here illegally…there are 67 people working in our organization, the majority of whom are ex Zimbabweans, including a number of ex commercial farmers who ate locating those individuals who played a role in looting hundreds of millions of Dollars worth of equipment, selling it and then absconding to go and live in the UK on the looted proceeds. You will never get away from the crimes you committed, as it always catches up with you.

  6. Good, keep kicking these thieving vast ads out back to their own country, there is no place for them in our UK! They must all go back to the very country which they all helped destroy!!!!

  7. Very sad, my honest experience all over the world is that black and brown immigrants are not treated as favorably as immigrants from european countries by western countries. This is even when it comes to the ones who get in trouble.

  8. Huyasi tirwe hondo please….siyanai nedzimwe nyika dzakarwira hupenyu hwakanaka. Munofunga zvinonakidza nhai? Sungwai mese….imi vaMavaza siyai vana vadzoke vazobatsira Tjamuka nekukanda matombo

  9. What a misleading headline! The police never arrest people for immigration offenses. That is done by Borders Agency. Also the reason that they are doing this is clear: Zimbabwe is on the cusp of regime change… Why not have people on the ground who have lived in a democratic country on the ground to shout about abuses and be part of the building of a new and democratic Zimbabwe?
