UK:Zim Married Nurse Caught in Sex Affair with Violent Mentally Ill Patient

London – A Zimbabwean married nurse at a high-security mental institution, for extremely difficult violent offenders, was yesterday spared the axe after being found guilty of having an affair with a mentally-ill patient.
Mrs Tendai Zinyemba was caught in a compromising act with Patient A (name withheld) by a colleague and reported to bosses, charges read out yesterday state. The patient (25) is 10 years younger than her.
She was also found guilty of sending letters to the patient of an intimate nature. Zinyemba sent “affectionate, intimate” letters to the 25 year old man, charges were deliberated on at Stratford London yesterday.
The married woman in mitigation, requested for other issues to be addressed in private by her solicitor, Dr Masimba Mavaza. That move led to her receiving a light suspension by the NMC (Nursing and Midwivery Council), of a 12 month period.
Tendai Zinyemba, 35, developed a relationship with the convicted prisoner at the psychiatric hospital at HMP Long Lartin around December 2013.
Inner details of the case were successfully kept hidden with Zinyemba’s solicitor, Masimba Mavaza’s help, who argued they should be dealt with in private. It was not clear what argument the lawyer used to win the tribunal’s favour. Efforts to obtain a comment from Dr Mavaza were fruitless at the time of writing.
