Zimbabwe Swaps Raw Diamonds For Bags of Rice From China and India

Dear Editor,
My heart is heavy with anger after seeing China and India donate rice to Zimbabwe last week and this week respectively amid revelations that millions face starvation.
My biggest question is where is the money from the diamonds that we have been sending to these countries over the years.
After years of diamond mining activity in Zimbabwe by Chinese tycoons , our local communities in Marange are worse off than before. What irks me most is the much publicity the State media ZBC, Herald give to these food donations making itit all front page news.
Three decades after independence we still cannot secure our agriculture and food security. For years Mugabe has prioritised elections, opting for temporary farm inputs like fertiliser bags and 10 kg maize seed handed to each rural farmer in an election year.
If my memory saves me well, this is not the first donation made by India. These countries are not doing us any favour. These donations cannot match the economic deals they enjoy in this country and will not solve our food security. Isn’t it true that when you give a hungry man a fish, you feed him for a day but teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime
It’s pathetic that our foolish ministers accompanied by State media make it such big business to attend and make acceptance speeches for these donations when they should instead be making announcements for funding important projects like the Zambezi Water.
If this government prioritised Zambezi water project to date we could be having a farming green belt criss-crossing the country.
Very disappointed,

  1. so as zimbabweans are we still hoping to see mugabe and his bootlickers voluntarily stepping down just because someone in bangure – buhera is starving to death?? if we still think that then we day dreaming, what is needed now for us the masses to take it up ourselves and demand our right to live normally, lets demand like what Itai Dzamara did but unfortunaly we betrayed him alone. This is the opportunity to force these animals to wake up and call for dialogue with everyone who is concerned about the future of this country and our kids. We must demand not waiting until donkeys grow horns. lets us not rest until Itai is back and until these thieves stop personalising zimbabwe as if we are second citizens. we are zimbabweans and our kids have got a right to be like what their kids are benefiting not as if my kid is an animals yet theirs enjoy, NO NO NO, LET US FIGHT THESE DOGS AND DEMAND OUR SHARE. We are more powerful than them, we out number them so why are we still looking on, a leopard does not change its colour.

  5. The only moral and honourable road for ZPF to take is to resign and form an interim crisis government from all stakeholders to chart a course for Zimbabwe out of deep and troubled waters. We are sinking fast. Mugabe must be retired! NOW! Isaiah 14:20 because you have destroyed your land and slain your people.” He must go quietly and peaceably. Vengeance belongs only to the Lord. At 91, with a very questionable legitimacy, ailing and with an ailing wife he is totally unable to run this nation!
