By Langton Ncube| The President Emmerson Mnagagwa administration has said that it is going to abolish 3000 youth officers’ posts which were existing in government.

Presenting the 2018 National Budget on Thursday Finance minister, Patrick Chinamasa said to reduce government expenditure, government was going to abolish 3 479 youths officers posts.

In August this year, former President Robert Mugabe ordered the reinstatement of over 2 000 youths who had been retrenched from Government.

Mugabe claimed that they had been retrenched without Cabinet approval.

Youth officers were used by the former President Mugabe’s regime to terrorize opposition party supporters during election campaign periods.

  1. Window dressing exercise. The full number is 40 000 and they earn 5 USD per day. All that will happen is that those of the YOUTHIES who read are 35, the limit for such ernegetic work of beating people up, will be pensioned off as adults who can now fend for themselves.

    If Mnangagwa is serious, he will dismantle the Border Gezi camps where the YOUTHIES are trained to do their job of violence. Just that move would save on trainers and food budgets, and condoms for the male Youthies who rape female youthies to EQUALISE all female Youthies as they say.

  2. If Manangagwa shows to have the country at heart then we will vote for him in the next election and so far he is showing to be in the right direction.

  11. i agree with you. Chinamasa fired them sometime back, and in July the fossil brought them back.
