Troubled MDC Masvingo Provincial Chairperson James Gumbi has declared that he is still in of the party’s political affairs in the province.

Gumbi,who has filed his papers at the Provincial Nomination Court today as a Parliamentary candidate for Zaka East Constituency, has distanced himself from a letter circulating on various social media platforms indicating he has stepped down.

According to the letter Gumbi claimed he was battling to cope with pressing commitments.

Gumbi stunned fellow aspiring MPs today when he said he never resigned from the top post.

“The media are peddling falseho

ods on my purported resignation. I am still in charge and I will not fall into the trap of misguided detractors who are determined to soil my image,” said Gumbi.

Gumbi also accused Zanu PF of planting state security agents within the opposition party.
