By Dorrothy Moyo| One of the ZANU PF youths filmed in a gunshot video at the weekend has been arrested.

Police confirmed the arrest Tuesday morning.

The man who fired the gunshot, was seen wearing a Zanu PF campaign T-shirt emblazoned with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s face.

The arrest comes after ZimEye managed to trace his identity and it was revealed he is a well known ZANU PF man who features at the front seats of party meetings.

The National police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba yesterday said the public must heed Mnangagwa’s call to maintain a peace during the election period.

“This type of criminal behaviour will surely be dealt with in accordance with the law. The process of identifying the criminals with a view to arrest them for drug abuse and discharging a firearm in a public place is already underway,”

“They are also abusing the campaign regalia of His Excellency, Cde ED Mnangagwa.

“We want to warn the public against wanton behaviour that may compromise the peaceful environment ahead of elections. The full wrath of the law will certainly take its course,” Charamba said.

Fuller details on the arrested man were not available at the time of publishing.
