Farai Dziva|Former Warriors captain Peter Ndlovu has defended Sunday Chidzambwa from a barrage of attacks saying those who criticise the veteran coach do not know much about him.

Some critics have been questioning Chidzambwa’s ability to lead the Warriors to a better finish at the Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, but Ndlovu insists the veteran mentor is the right man.

“I have been privileged to work under him, and I can tell you he knows his stuff. He is one of the best coaches I have worked under. He is very good at player management. He consults his players before making a decision, and he also takes criticism from the players as he gives them a platform to express themselves,” said Ndlovu.

“I put my head on the block and say that this time around, the Warriors are going to go far in this tournament. With the experience that he got in 2004, I believe Chidzambwa will take us far this time around.”

Zimbabwe open their campaign against the hosts Egypt on 21 June followed by matches against DRC and Uganda.

The Warriors have failed to go beyond the group stages in the last three editions
