By Simba Chikanza | The following is a summary from Chief Svosve’s program on Thursday morning: Much talk has emerged over the MDC MP Job Sikhala’s political utterances that Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government must be overthrown. Sikhala needs not apologise for this because it is not new, the same has even been practiced by the Zimbabwe nation for over 39 years to date.

There are numerous times the government has been overthrown. In 1987, the government was demolished and a new one emerged. Supreme Court judges were not involved, it was all done by politicians. In 2008, the government was demolished by an act of elections, when the late Morgan Tsvangirai defeated Robert Mugabe at the polls. Mugabe says Tsvangirai defeated him by over 72% of the vote.

Between 2008 and 2008, Tsvangirai overthrew the regime twice. He did it first using elections, and in 2009, using a mere stroke of the pen. No judge was there. No Luke Malaba was there. It was a political transition enforced by politicians and a new government emerged.

Since the July 2018 elections, most citizens have said the government needs to be overthrown. This has been uttered far and wide with business owners even saying they will only trust a new administration, this does not necessarily mean removing Emmerson Mnangagwa.

These statistics are seen in numerous surveys.

One of those voicing out is Chief Felix Ndiweni who has said it is time for us to stand up and undo this charade of a democracy. He said Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government has no capacity whatsoever to deal with the current crisis. “It is time for us to stand up and undo this charade of a democracy. And I say charade of a democracy cause at the apex of our difficulty, is our democracy is dead,” he said.
