One of the country’s fast upcoming fast food outlet, Chicken Hut, known for its hilarious chicken adverts has attracted the ire of Zimbabweans after running an advert that sort of mocked late former President Robert Mugabe for dying before turning 100 as he had sometimes hinted.

The fast food chain has since apologised over their advert.

Below is the controversial advert.

Following the backlash, they released the below statement.

In the spirit of ubuntu and unity that binds us as a nation; Chicken Hut Portuguese BBQ Shop would like to apologize for unintentionally provoking sentiment of bad taste from our most recent advert.

We did not intend to make light of any serious issue. Cognisant of the assumed perception due to timing; we have pulled down the content and retracted the messaging. Our goaI is to bring people together as one whilst enjoying our meals.
