Highlanders coach Hendrik Pieter de Jongh has criticised the Premier Soccer League and Zifa for scheduling games during the FIFA international break.

The league announced a full fixtures schedule for mid-week and weekend despite the national team’s involvement in the Afcon Qualifiers.

Speaking at his presser ahead of Wednesday’s clash against Ngezi Platinum Stars, de Jongh said: “The only problem is PSL and Zifa, who l feel should follow the Fifa rules.

“They are not my rules, but Fifa rules. All over the world, the FAs listen to coaches, so I hope that in future we won’t have situations such as this one. ”

The Dutchman’s comments follow after Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas also blasted the move to have the league games during the international break.

The Gamecocks gaffer will travel to Bindura for their game against Mushowani and at the same time, he will be required to be in camp with Warriors as he doubling as interim coach.

“This whole thing is a mess because this is a Fifa week,” Antipas said on Monday. “Everywhere in the world, no local games are being played.

“Mind you, the national team games take priority over the domestic programme.

“I think we had too many stoppages during the season and now it is the clubs that are paying heavily for that.”

Dynamos coach Tonderai Ndiraya and Harare City’s Lloyd Chitembwe are also in the same predicament as they also make up the Warriors technical team.
