By A Correspondent- President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s spokesperson, George Charamba has said that POLAD was the only platform where national dialogue can take place.

His remarks come after opposition MDC leader, Nelson Chamisa, who snubbed POLAD, has once again called for dialogue between himself and Mnangagwa.

But Charamba said talks must not exclude other players who are regarded as equals under POLAD.

He said:

POLAD is the only framework and there is no other. Let that point be driven home. POLAD incorporates all political players as equals regardless of organisational status or results of 2018 elections.

Chamisa cannot at one level demand talks between equals while at the same time creating exclusion and inequality for others.

Whilst Chamisa wants a dialogue mediated by a “foreign and credible” mediator and also demands Mnangagwa’s legitimacy to be on the dialogue agenda, Charamba has said that POLAD which was initiated by the president will not involve outsiders and will “not resurrect the political question which was long decided in 2018 elections”.
