The UK Prime Minister was rushed to hospital Sunday evening, 10 days after testing positive of the novel Corona Virus. The country and Commonwealth nations said that Boris Johnson was rushed to hospital as a precaution on medical advice. The Prime Minister was set to emerge out of his seven day isolation on Friday, but decided against it as he still registered a high temperature.

Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab is next in line to step into the position of Prime Minister if Boris Johnson is unable to continue his duties. Boris Johnson is the highest profile person to test positive for the virus.

The Queen’s Address

A 93-year-old Queen addressed the global pandemic offering hope to all who have been affected which has claimed more than 68,000 lives. This was only her fourth address in a crisis period during her 68 year reign.”We will succeed, and that success will belong to every one of us,” she said in her speech recorded at the Windsor Castle. Queen Elizabeth praised the public’s cooperative efforts and response to the pandemic.

Queen Elizabeth also thanked the healthcare workers in the front lines for their courage and dedication to saving those infected with the virus. The Queen drew advise from her and her sister’s experience during the World War II. They were forced to leave London as bombs descended on it. She acclaimed this similar to the current situation where loved ones have been forced apart.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson was initially highly criticized for this response to the outbreak. However, on March 23 after scientists and researchers warned of how dire the decision would prove, he ordered a 3-week lock down. People have been instructed only to leave their homes to exercise and shop for essentials. Exercise may ruled out as the warm weather returns which may draw people to public spaces.
