South Africa woke up with more cases of the Coronavirus pandemic with official figures approaching 2000.

Zimbabwe’s neighbour to the south has confirmed 1655 cases with 70 cases overnight on Sunday.

However the lockdown appears to be working as the country is no longer diagnosing new cases as was the rate before.

South Africa was escalating numbers up to more than 200 new cases in a day.

The country now has 11 confirmed deaths after two people succumbed over the weekend. The 2 were both in ICU Western Cape and Kwazulu Natal. First is an 82 year old female who was admitted on the 29th of March 2020.

The second one is an 86 year old Male who was admitted on the 26th March 2020.

The deaths in South Africa have been mainly of elderly people who are the most vulnerable of the disease.

Only 2 people of the 11 were under the age of 60 at 46 and 48 years.
