MDC-T President Thokozani Khupe has fought for her allies in parliament Priscillar Misihairambwi and Senator Mildred Reason Dube after writing to the Speaker of Parliament Advocate Jacob Mudenda advising him to disregard correspondences from her Secretary General Nixon Nyikadzino.

Nyikadzino better known as Cde Mao recently wrote to Mudenda recalling Mushonga and Dube from parliament.

With Mudenda appearing to have taken sides with Khupe’s grouping after announcing the expulsion of Charlton Hwende, Tabitha Khumalo, Prosper Mutseyami and Lilian Timveos following a letter of recall from Douglas Mwonzora, it appears the Speaker will likely go with Khupe’s word bringing an end to Nyikadzino’s spirited fight for the control of the MDC-T.

In her letter to Mudenda Khupe said she assumed the leadership of the MDC-T following a Supreme Court ruling which nullified leadership changes in the two factions of the MDC that emerged following the death of founding leader Morgan Tsvangirai.

“I refer to the judgement of the High Court by Justice Mushore in the Mashavira vs Movement for Democratic Change and others, Case No HH 302-19 and the subsequent judgement of the Supreme Court in the case of Movement for Democratic Change and others vs Elias Mashavira and others case number SC56/20. In terms of both judgements the original MDC leadership of the united MDC-T party, I was confirmed as the lawful Acting President of that party.

“Therefore the two Members of Parliament, Hon P Misihairambwi-Mushonga and Hon M Mangena are Members of Parliament of the united MDC-T party which is led by me.

“It follows therefore, that all correspondence regarding the two honorable members and any other member of the MDC-T party of the will done through the office of the MDC-T Secretary General Senator Douglas Mwonzora. Kindly therefore ignore any other correspondence from any other person regarding the above,” said Khupe.
