“We Were Hungry”: 5 Men Convicted For Poaching A Kudu Tell Court

Five Mbire men were slapped with $500 fine each for poaching a kudu by Guruve resident magistrate Shingirai Mutiro yesterday. 

Thomas Tofa(25), Fannuel Gwekwerere(34),Trymore Ngarumwe (44), Freedom Chikomwe (21) and Simbarashe Mudzingaidzwa (19) pleaded not guilty before the magistrate.

They told the magistrate that they committed the crime due to hunger.

“We killed the Kudu in search of relish we are hungry your worship please spare us a jail term,” they pleaded.

Prosecutor Albert Mazhindu alleged  that on the 9th of June the game scults from Dande Anti poaching unit Rajabu Kazembe and Prince Mhosira were informed that the accused persons removed kudu meat at Kateshiko village.
