MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa on Sunday addressed the country’s first online rally (eRally) on the political and economic situation in Zimbabwe.

Here are the key points that were raised by Chamisa in his address:

No reforms no elections

Chamisa said that his party will not participate in 2023 elections if electoral reforms are not implemented to their satisfaction.

Transitional authority

He said the MDC Alliance is looking forward to seeing a transitional authority running he government of Zimbabwe to implement reforms that are required for elections to be conducted.

Harvest House Offices

Chamisa says the Harvest House is privately owned and they will not rush to attempt to retake it as it is not yet the time. He dismissed Mwonzora’s claims that it is owned by the party. He says they can retake it anytime they want but the MDC Alliance is avoiding violence.

MDC Alliance Name

Chamisa said, “Do not be worried that the MDC-T will take our name (MDC Alliance). Zita harina basa. (A name doesn’t matter.) We are strengthening the people and the party and we are focused on the people’s agenda. Our focus is jobs for the people and to bring food on the table.”

Action

“We will perform our action at the right time, we have our own time table,” says Nelson Chamisa

“We are seeing other people starting their own initiatives. We want to tell you that we will support any democratic initiative that can result in freedom for the people. We will join those initiatives. Even those who are in government and want to work towards freedom, we will support them even the civil servants,” says the MDC Alliance leader.
