By Farai D Hove | Soldiers and police officers have closed off all cities in a major operation in which civilians were severely assaulted.
There were several scenes particularly in the capital city Harare where commuters were assaulted.
Harare and Bulawayo had the largest deployments.
There was a scuffle between police officers and some civilians early in the morning at 8.44am, at Mbudzi Roundabout, in Harare.
At Copacabana, in Harare two women one of them a Dairiboard employee, complained of being assaulted by police officers with baton stick. There was another incident where at an undisclosed location, a male soldier was filmed using a metal spike infused rubber whip to brutally assault passerbies he had forced to sit down.
The development comes as the 31 July demonstration draws nigh.
