National police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, has confirmed the arrest of MDC Alliance Deputy National Chairman Job Sikhala.

Sikhala was arrested in Tynwald North, Harare, today.

“He is in police custody assisting with investigations,” he said.

He said more details would be provided soon.

MDC Alliance spokesperson Ms Fadzai Mahere also confirmed Sikhala’s arrest.

Sikhala was one of the opposition figures that have been on the police wanted list over the foiled demonstrations that were planned for July 31.

Police are also keen to interview Godfrey Tsenengamu in connection with the same issue.
