The only ZANU PF councillor in Kwekwe was on Thursday arrested over violence that took place at the party primary elections a couple of weeks ago.

Councilor Mclean Nyakuchera of ward 6 was charged for public violence over the fiasco that took place at Zanu-PF Kwekwe District offices earlier this month following a misunderstanding within the party allegedly over the primary elections voters roll.

The councillor was arrested by detectives from the Law and Order Department while he was about to go into a council meeting at the city’s civic centre.

He is expected to appear in court today.

In 2018, Nyakuchera was elected the only Zanu-PF Councilor out of fortheen councilors in Kwekwe.
