Mangwana said he was expecting them to be celebrating.

“AIPPA was repealed.

“It was not partially repealed, it’s gone, and I think this being the first conference … after the repealing of AIPPA, I expected to see banners saying AIPPA is gone,” said Mangwana.

The Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act (AIPPA) was enforced in 2002 by the Zimbabwean Parliament under the majority of the Zimbabwe African National Union – Patriotic Front (ZANU–PF) and Former President Robert Mugabe.

Mangwana who said it wasn’t at all a creation of ZANU PF, was met with more shame as scribes kept their hands to themselves during clapping.
