Ailing Chipinge Teacher Appeals For Help To Undergo Surgery

A teacher from Chipinge is appealing for US$20 000 to undergo open-heart surgery in India after suffering a heart problem.

Gladys Pisirai (37), was diagnosed with chronic rheumatic valve injury with Mitral valve disease and Atrial Aortic Regurgitation consequent in February this year.

If the operation is done, her mitral valve will be replaced with a mechanical one.

The mitral valve, also known as the bicuspid valve or left atrioventricular valve, is a valve with two flaps in the heart that lies between the left atrium and the left ventricle.

According to Chipinge Times, Pisirai initially transferred to a school close to an urban area but has now stopped going to work altogether.

She can neither do house chores anymore nor look after her three children.

Pisirai’s husband Lovemore Pisirai who is a pastor at Full Gospel Assemblies International Church confirmed the condition.

To date, US$5 000 has been raised towards the operation.
