By Jacob Ngarivhume| l had a two and half hour engagement with the entire board of the Zimbabwe Anti Corruption Commission led by Justice Loice Matanda-Moyo.

We raised several issues of concern to the citizens which required answers from the Commission. Firstly l had reached out to the Auditor General’s office over their reports they have been producing since 2017 which unearthed massive corruption in government particularly command agriculture.

The AG’s office indicated that they have an MoU with ZACC which ZACC can use to follow up on any corruption issues raised.

Secondly, l touched base with the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Finance chair Hon Tendai Biti, who indicated that they are finalizing a report on Command Agriculture which showed that over US$3 bn could not be accounted for.

Though a full report is to be produced for Parliament and ZACC, they revealed that there is enough information for ZACC to start their investigations on the corruption, but this has not yet started.

The ZACC Chairperson said the Commission had received the AG’s reports but were waiting for forensic reports to be commissioned by the AG’s office so that they look into the issues raised in those reports.

She however outlined the limitations faced by the Commission in the pursuit of its mandate.

ZACC is sitting on seventy five high profile cases which can not be prosecuted as whistle blowers are demanding protection which the current legal framework can not provide.

There is urgent need to reform our legal system and amend our court rules.We raised issues of the 15bil diamond money looted and the Drax Covidgate money.

Justice Moyo indicated that they are still in the process of recovering the money stolen from Covid donations. A total of 2mil had been paid out.

As citizens we will continue focusing on the forensic audits and push for the investigation of the command agriculture funds. We will not rest until justice is served.
