FUNERAL UPDATE – SENATOR AGNES MLOYI

MDC Alliance National Executive member, Senator Agnes Mloyi (69), who passed away last Wednesday, will be buried on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at Bulawayo’s Lady Stanley Cemetery.

Born on July 25, 1951, Senator Mloyi was a devout Christian,
who showed leadership amongst congregants of the Guta Ra Mwari Church. Besides leading the Luveve Residents Association at one time, Senator Mloyi also led the Women of Zimbabwe Arise (WOZA) as chairperson during its formative years. Prior to the 2005 plebiscite, WOZA drew huge membership from men and women in MDC Party structures. Senator Mloyi remained loyal to the leadership of founding MDC President Morgan Tsvangirai (MHSRIP), after a few top leaders and their followers left the Party in October 2005.

At the beginning of 2006, she assumed the position of MDC-T Bulawayo Provincial Chairperson at the Party’s provincial congress. A consistent stalwart, she was Senator for Luveve from 2008 to 2018. She died on December 16, 2020.

Her body will lie in state on the evening of December 19, 2020 at 1323 Old Luveve (her residence) near Chigumira Shopping Centre. A memorial service will be held at 07:30 a.m. on Sunday at 1323 Old Luveve after which burial will take place. She lives behind four children and 11 grandchildren.
