Statement | The MDC Alliance has learnt with great sadness of the passing of Senator Cephas Makuyana Grader. He was the Founding MDC Harare Province Chairperson & MC at the launch of the MDC at Rufaro Stadium. May his soul rest in peace.

MDC Alliance Secretary General confirmed Makuyana’s death saying;

“We have just received sad news on the Passing on of Senator Makuyana a veteran trade unionist and a founding member of the MDC. Go well Chigheredha till we meet again,” said Hwende.

Senator Makuyana, one of the founding members of the MDC in 1999 was the master of ceremony when the party was launched.

At the time of his death, he was working with MDC-T President Douglas Mwonzora and was one of the people who campaigned for the former MDC-T Secretary General to assume the substantive leadership of the group.
