By A Correspondent- The Acting Information minister, Jenfan Muswere says government has increased the risk allowance for frontline workers as Zimbabwe battles rising cases of Covid-19.

The decision was taken after an ad-hoc Inter-ministerial Taskforce on Covid-19 meeting was held on the 18 January 2021 to deliberate on the National Covid19 response.
Muswere said, government, through the National Taskforce owes health workers a debt of gratitude.

“Those who work in the Red Zones which deal with the care of the Covid19 patients will have their allowances reviewed with the intention of compensating them adequately.”

Not much details were given on how the compensations will be reviewed.

Muswere said, “We are in the thick of the battle of our lives and our clarion call goes to everyone to play their part during this pandemic COVID 19 does not discriminate. It is blind to race and equally blind to gender. No one is safe but we can all do something about it at individual, community and national level.
