As we start the International Women’s month, I visited Victoria Chitepo hospital in Manicaland Province in solidarity with women assisting with medical care to the province, and women receiving the same, particularly pregnant mothers.

I met with very hard-working nurses and doctors.

I was, however, disturbed by the working conditions prevailing at the hospital: inadequate and insecure PPE, outdated and malfunctional medical apparatus and broken beds.

Not forgetting the meagre salaries being paid to these nurses who risk their lives in this deadly pandemic. These nurses deserve better, patients deserve better, all Zimbabweans deserve better.
