Exactly 58 years after the formation of Organization of African Unity (OAU now AU) on this day, there is virtually nothing to write home as far as fulfillment of vision and aspirations of Africa’s founding fathers is concerned.

OAU, a noble platform created by revolutionaries and visionaries has been reduced to a club of dictators coalescing under the new banner of African Union (AU).

Where we used to have genuine African revolutionaries like Mwalimu Julius Nyerere and Kwame Nkrumah, we now have a clueless bunch of compradors, the likes Dambudzo Emmerson Mnangagwa and Kaguta Yoweri Museveni who use live bullets on their own citizens all for power.

The current looting lot we now have as our rulers are nothing more than conduits of expropriation and plunder of Africa’s natural resources.

Here in Zimbabwe, the campradors masquerading as the Second Republic are busy reversing the liberation agenda.

Vast tracks of land is being parcelled out to Chinese imperialists in Hwange and Dendairy white capitalists in Chilonga at the expense of black Africans who are being evicted from their ancestral lands.

These compradors who now pose as liberators have become the new found love for imperialists from all over the world for they pose no hindrance nor any harm to imperial interests but act as conduits to siphon Africa of her rich mineral wealth.

Imagine a whole President mortgaging our country all for obsolete buses from Belarus!

Africa’s founding fathers must be turning in their graves.

Behold, criminals running the affairs of our motherland!

Cry Mother Africa cry!

But all is not doom in our mother continent. We have a fine crop of new politicians with an unfathomable desire for an African success story.

From Zimbabwe’s Nelson Chamisa to South Africa’s Julius Malema and Uganda’s Bobi Wine, the continent can dare to dream again.

Happy Africa Day Zimbabwe!
