By A Correspondent -Home Affairs Minister, and Zanu PF Mashonaland Central provincial chairman, Kazembe Kazembe is reportedly blocking set businessman, James Makamba from contesting him for the party’s provincial leadership in the looming elections.

Makamba was invited by locals to challenge Kazembe for the influential party position in Mashonaland Central after the latter had become unpopular.

Party insiders told Bulawayo24 that last week Kazembe sent police details to arrest Makamba at his rural home in Mount Darwin after his family and friends had gathered to welcome him.

Both Makamba and Kazembe could neither confirm nor deny the allegations.

“Police came and arrested Makamba accusing him of violating covid- 19 regulations but they were pleading with him that they were sent by Kazembe on political grounds since he showed interest in contesting him in the looming provincial elections, ” said the source.

Kazembe did not respond to questions sent to him by this Bulawayo24, while Makamba refused to comment on the issue.

Makamba’s alleged arrest has raised eyebrows within the Zanu PF camp in the province with locals arguing that Kazembe was ever mobilising huge crowds exceeding 50 people which are allowed under the Covid-19 set regulations.

“It is astonishing to note that Kazembe is using security agencies for political power in the name of violating covid 19 regulations yet he chairs a PCC with more than 100 people,” said Givemore Chatyoka.
